ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

JOB DUTIES/TASKS
• Adhere to safe work practices, policies, and procedures.
• Maintain harmonious relationships with colleagues, managers, and patrons.
• Attend scheduled training sessions and staff meetings.
• Ensure patron safety and lifeguard protection through vigilant surveillance.
• Prevent injuries by identifying and addressing hazardous situations.
• Enforce facility rules and regulations, educating patrons when necessary.
• Recognize and respond effectively to emergencies, administering first aid, CPR, and AED as needed.
• Communicate with other lifeguards and staff for additional support or equipment.
• Assist patrons in finding missing individuals.
• Complete required records and reports, submitting them to the manager.
• Perform maintenance, cleaning, and other assigned tasks.
• Inspect the facility daily, reporting any unsafe conditions or equipment to the manager.
• Follow verbal and written instructions accurately.
• Maintain a safe swimming environment, prevent accidents, and enforce rules.
• Supervise pool patrons, perform rescues when necessary, and maintain crowd control.
• Inspect and maintain all lifesaving equipment and facility cleanliness.
• Demonstrate knowledge of water safety procedures, swim lesson facilitation, and aquatics safety standards.
• Communicate effectively with diverse individuals and provide excellent customer service.
• Stay alert to identify potential emergencies.
• Lead and work with individuals of all ages.
• Learn and adhere to facility policies, procedures, and practices, including water chemistry and quality regulations.
• Resolve conflicts calmly and effectively.

WORKING CONDITIONS
• Duties are frequently performed under conditions where noise, heat, dampness or cold are unavoidable.
• Work environment may involve occasional exposure to occupational hazards, biohazards, and physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• American Red Cross Lifeguard Training, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, and First Aid certifications, required.
• Ability to work weeknights and weekends.
• Ability to lift a minimum of 30 pounds or heavier lifting with other employees.
• Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
• Ability to pass background check if over 18-years-old.
