AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM SITE COORDINATOR / CUSTODIAN - Story Elementary

Sheridan County School District #2 is seeking a dependable, self-motivated, and efficient individual to serve as an Afterschool Program Site Coordinator and Custodian for Story Elementary School. This position will work 3.5 hours with students and 3.5 hours as a custodian, Monday through Friday from 2pm to 9pm  

After School Program Site Coordinator:

STARTING WAGE: $15.06-$18.06

QUALIFICATIONS: 
  1. Must be well organized, personable, and able to work well with a large variety of staff members.
  2. Possess ability to promote public relations about district after-school programs, needs, and successes.
  3. Demonstrate advanced knowledge on the use of computer hardware and software application programs and the ability to adapt such to a given application.
  4. Possess proper grammar and English usage skills.
  5. Demonstrate ability to maintain confidentiality.
  6. High School Diploma Required 
REPORTS TO:   District After School Program Coordinator
 
JOB GOALS:  To organize and coordinate an after-school program at an elementary school. Perform tasks related to organizing staff for activities that promote student well being and foster learning through strong social-emotional development in a fun and safe environment
 
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES   
1. Organize and plan an after-school program located at one of the SCSD2 schools.
2. Prepare requested information regarding your after-school program in a timely and accurate manner.      
3. Establish and maintain a good working relationship with school staff, community leaders, and cooperating to resolve problems in a professional manner.
4. Plan and prepare functions or projects as requested for the benefit of improving your program.
5. Manage after school program staffing and program format.
6. Stay up to date on best practices, attend professional development events, and maintain connection to after school organizations.
7. Develop and maintain partnerships with key community organizations.
8. Provide support, guidance, and leadership for site program staff and students through regular communication and participating.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

 TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Employment relationship with the District is at will and of indefinite duration; twelve months with vacations as per District Policy. Eight hours per day; salary and fringe benefits to be set by the Board of Trustees.

QUALIFICATIONS: 
 
1. Must demonstrate ability to recognize and maintain a clean environment.
 
2. Must be able to read and understand the English language - i.e. chemical labels.
 
3. Must have the ability to cooperate with supervisors, administrators, faculty, and students.
 
4. Must be able to demonstrate the ability to follow directions and complete assigned responsibilities.
 
REPORTS TO: Head Custodian and Facilities Director
 
JOB GOAL: To provide students with a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean and efficient place in which to learn, play and develop.
 
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
  1. Keep buildings and grounds including sidewalks, driveways, and play areas neat and clean at all times.  Shovel plow and sand walks, parking areas and steps as appropriate.
  2.  Scrub and disinfect bathrooms, fixtures and drinking fountains daily.
  3.  Keep all floors and stairwells in a clean and attractive condition and in a good state of preservation.
  4.  Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces daily, including handrails, door handles, tables and desks.
  5.  Removal of graffiti and defacing marks will be an ongoing daily requirement.
  6.  Empty garbage cans daily and comply with local laws and procedures for the storage and disposal of trash, rubbish, and waste.
  7.  Clean all whiteboards, window ledges, and dust furniture daily.
  8.  Wash windows on both the inside and outside as needed.
  9.  Make minor building repairs within capability levels.
  10.  Report major repairs needed promptly to the Head Custodian.
  11.  Keep inventory of supplies and requisition as needed from the Head Custodian so they may be delivered in such time to not hinder the performance of custodial duties.
  12.  Report immediately to the Head Custodian or Principal any damage to school property.
  13.  Remain on the school premises during working hours, except in the event of an emergency and in such event shall notify the principal immediately (after hours notify Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds) before leaving the building.
  14.  Provide efficient and professional customer service to students, employees, and visitors.
 
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
 
  1. Upper body strength to lift up to 40 pounds and carry more than 50 feet or up three flights of stairs throughout the work day.
  1. Must be able to lift 75 pounds to waist height.
  1. Lower body strength to stand and walk throughout the day.
  1. Ability to work at heights from a ladder.
  1. Ability to work around or be in contact with items that affect senses  (i.e. cleaning chemicals).
  1. Need to be adaptable to varying temperatures and climates encountered indoors and outdoors.

Placement on any of the Classified (Hourly) Wage Schedules for all new employees will be based solely on an individual’s years of job-related experience:
 
School district experience (full time) = One (1) year of job-related experience equals one (1) step on the wage schedule, up to step seven (7)
School district experience (substitute) & non-school district experience = three (3) years of job-related experience equals one (1) step on the wage schedule, up to step seven (7)
*Placement beyond step seven (7) requires approval from the Superintendent
 
Upon board approval, eligible staff move one (1) step on the wage schedule annually, except in those years when the Board of Trustees sets a wage freeze due to budget constraints.
 
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s Policy on Evaluation of Classified Personnel.
