Job Title: Information Systems Administrator

Job Summary:
 
The Information Systems Administrator administers the daily functions for assigned area including operational and technical functions within the Division of Information Technology Services. Accountable for the design, development, integration management, maintenance, security and control of the Institutional enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems and all information systems associated; establish and enforce all information system standards and analyze informational requirements of new or production systems and develop specifications; establish and enforce controls to ensure data integrity, cross-platform integration and data exchange between various systems; guide daily operational functions for assigned area.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
 
Provide leadership and project direction; act as coach and mentor with regards to projects pertaining to information systems
Manage complex information systems with campus and state-wide impact; provide quality assurance; manage security operations for several large databases
Coordinate implementation and maintenance of application software by developing partnerships with customers, vendors, and technical resources.
Utilize languages in use in the division to develop, implement and maintain custom database, portal and application interfaces and applications.
Provide ongoing technical training on the various information systems, ERP and databases through presentations, colloquiums, seminars, or one-on-one training; act as coach/mentor for support staff and other staff as assigned.
Recommend organizational user training requirements to the institutions “User Group.” 
Make recommendations regarding policy and procedures for the institutions “User Group.”
Analyze Institutional needs and requirements as they affect the ERP, associated information systems, and data security.
Design, install, maintain, enhance or modify institutional databases and data security environment and related tools and products. Work closely with the institution’s “User Group.” 
Define procedures for testing and implementing new applications and modifications in the database environment
Assist in the preparation of operating procedures and budget for the division.
Provide on call assistance for problem resolution to equipment, applications, security or other problems.
Develop short- and long-range plans for assigned areas.

Evaluate, assess and recommend resources for the enhancement, maintenance, or improvement of equipment, personnel, systems or services; stay current with changing technology impacts
Participate in special projects as assigned.

Overall computer operations procedures
Cross platform API, integration, and development expertise
Programming languages in use in the Division
Basic, routine, and advanced operating systems and platforms
Basic, routine, and advanced database management systems, languages, procedures, and controls
Administrative and technical operations of database management systems
Optimizing systems resource utilization
Database security, backup, and recovery
Database software products
Cross-systems integration management
Basic, routine and advanced database and software modifications
Design, develop, and control several operational aspects of database management system in relation to administrative informational requirements
Work under pressure of deadlines and to work different work schedules for shutdown recovery, set up or maintenance
Manage projects to meet multiple and conflicting project timelines
Identify problems and provide project leadership
Translate technical information into user-friendly program documentation
Assume complete responsibility
Develop long-range plans
Use a variety of database management tools and processes
Work logically through problems and develop optimal solutions
Provide quality customer relations
Test new data processing equipment and computer system applications and recommend purchases and standards

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
 
May require being on call 24 hours per day.
May travel occasionally to conferences, workshops, or outreach areas for professional development.
Standard Office Setting
Routinely exposed to video terminal display
Operates within a high stress environment
 
Minimum Qualifications including education, experience, required licensures, certifications, and registrations:
 
Two years utilizing microcomputer applications in technical support setting
Three years of maintenance and configuration of underlying database operating systems
Five years programming with large scale distributed databases systems
