Open Position: WIC Technician
Department: Women, Infant and Children, Sheridan County
Salary Range: $47,989.00 Annually, Non-Exempt (Grade 14)
Job Summary: This position promotes positive health outcomes for the participants of the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Program through eligibility assessment, certification processing, and program referrals while complying with State and Federal regulatory requirements.

MAJOR DUTIES:
- Assesses and documents income eligibility information.
- Maintains confidentiality of participant information.
- Schedules participants in a manner that meets regulatory requirements, the needs of the participants, and the availability of staff with a high level of customer service.
- Integrates WIC services with social and health agencies, Federal, State, and local
governmental agencies and other community programs for education and referrals.
- Speaks positively of general healthy eating habits, physical fitness, and breastfeeding.
- Provides excellent customer service to all WIC customers.
- Ensures supplies are available for staff to serve participants.
- Answers phone professionally.
- Maintains a professional front office and waiting area environment.
- Recognizes and shows respect for cultural differences.
- Promotes positive outreach (marketing).
- Works with Supervisor, Competent Professional Authorities, and Breastfeeding Peer
Counselors to ensure a positive experience for WIC customers.
- Ensures EBT card inventories are maintained accurately and securely.
- Ensures completion of local agency vendor monitoring and training in accordance with
WIC Program Policy and Procedures.
- Provides education to participants about which grocers accept WIC.
- Provides EBT card and food benefit education to participants.
- Assists with audits to ensure compliance with state and federal requirements.
- Assists in training new employees.
- Assists with verification and preparation of county fiscal documents.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with an associate degree.
- Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with having had a similar position for 1 to 4 years related work experience.
- Ability to speak a second language is preferred.
