WHAT DOES GROWTH LOOK LIKE?

At Weatherby, production roles are designed with a clear and transparent growth path. Advancement is guided by a skill matrix developed between you and your supervisor, ensuring expectations are clear and progress is recognized. Growth supports our single-piece flow production model by building flexibility, teamwork, and the ability to rotate across stations and eventually across departments. Each level reflects increased responsibility, recognition, and compensation.
  • Operator in Training – At this stage, employees are being onboarded. Most skills are at the “observing/assisting” or “beginner” level.  They are learning SOPs, safety, and equipment/process basics. Success means demonstrating the potential of being a solid contributor and meeting milestones of the 90-day training plan.
  • Entry Level Operator – At this stage, employees are moving beyond training and can perform core tasks independently with consistency.  They understand SOPs, safety protocols, and equipment basics enough to carry out daily operations without constant oversight. However, their scope is still limited to their primary role, and they typically need guidance for troubleshooting, problem-solving or cross functional tasks. Success is measured by reliability, accuracy, and building confidence in core responsibilities.
  • Cross-Trained Operator – Employees can execute across several operations within their home department, not just their initial role. At this point, they are expected to show adaptability and a wider understanding of production systems balancing quality and pace and the team dynamics to reach and exceed goals, meeting full skill matrix.
  • Production Specialist (Requires Application/Supervisor Recommendation) – These employees are considered subject matter experts in their home department. They not only perform tasks but support others, troubleshoot, train, optimize workflows and perform quality checks. This is the level where employees meet or exceed the full skill matrix and are able to perform operations in other departments, while consistently delivering high-quality, accurate work.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or GED; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Manufacturing experience is a plus.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and work orders.
• Basic math skills and ability to use measuring instruments.
• English written and oral communication skills.
