Build a Career Where Precision Meets Teamwork

Are you a machinist at heart — someone who knows their way around CNC equipment — but prefers the rhythm and stability of a consistent production environment? Do you take pride in running machines efficiently, maintaining quality, and being part of a team that works together to hit goals day in and day out? If that sounds like you, we want you on our team.

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
The Machine Operator II brings a machinist’s skill set to a hands-on production role. This individual operates and sets up CNC mills and lathes, follows work orders and QC checks, performs daily maintenance, updates setup sheets, assists in training, and handles material. This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in consistent, high-quality execution and being a key contributor on a collaborative team.

WHAT MAKES YOU A GREAT FIT

  • You have machinist-level experience, but you’re not chasing the next programming challenge — you value steady, skill-based work.
  • You enjoy being part of a team and find satisfaction in supporting shared production goals.
  • You take ownership of your machines — you know what “normal” looks and sounds like, and you keep things running smoothly.
  • You’re consistent, focused, and proud of producing high-quality work shift after shift.
  • You like knowing what to expect — and getting really good at it.

WHAT DOES GROWTH LOOK LIKE?

At Weatherby, production roles are designed with a clear and transparent growth path. Advancement is guided by a skill matrix developed between you and your supervisor, ensuring expectations are clear and progress is recognized. Growth supports our single-piece flow production model by building flexibility, teamwork, and the ability to rotate across stations and eventually across departments. Each level reflects increased responsibility, recognition, and compensation.
  • Operator in Training – At this stage, employees are being onboarded. Most skills are at the “observing/assisting” or “beginner” level.  They are learning SOPs, safety, and equipment/process basics. Success means demonstrating the potential of being a solid contributor and meeting milestones of the 90-day training plan.
  • Entry Level Operator – At this stage, employees are moving beyond training and can perform core tasks independently with consistency.  They understand SOPs, safety protocols, and equipment basics enough to carry out daily operations without constant oversight. However, their scope is still limited to their primary role, and they typically need guidance for troubleshooting, problem-solving or cross functional tasks. Success is measured by reliability, accuracy, and building confidence in core responsibilities.
  • Cross-Trained Operator – Employees can execute across several operations within their home department, not just their initial role. At this point, they are expected to show adaptability and a wider understanding of production systems balancing quality and pace and the team dynamics to reach and exceed goals, meeting full skill matrix.
  • Production Specialist (Requires Application/Supervisor Recommendation) – These employees are considered subject matter experts in their home department. They not only perform tasks but support others, troubleshoot, train, optimize workflows and perform quality checks. This is the level where employees meet or exceed the full skill matrix and are able to perform operations in other departments, while consistently delivering high-quality, accurate work.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 1+ year experience operating CNC machines (OSP and Fanuc experience preferred).

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent technical training.
