We are excited to share this unique opportunity to become a part of the Ucross Foundation team and forward the mission of our renowned artist residency program and creative laboratory for the arts. For more than 40 years, Ucross has provided a rare gift in today's world — uninterrupted time — along with workspace and living accommodations, to competitively selected visual artists, writers, composers, and choreographers. Nearly 3,000 artists have spent time in residence at Ucross on our spectacular 20,000-acre working cattle ranch, located between Sheridan and Buffalo in northern Wyoming. Ucross welcomes approximately 115 artists to our program each year, as well as thousands of community members and travelers who visit the Ucross Art Gallery and The Park at Ucross, where we host a slate of public events featuring alumni artists throughout the year.
POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Business Director, the Office Administrator provides key organizational support to Ucross’s artist residency program, business management, events, and external relations activities. This is an hourly, non-exempt position, at 20 hours per week. The ideal candidate is tenacious and detail-oriented with a keen attention to detail, appreciation for the arts, and sense of humor.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provides general administrative support to the office staff
• Assists the Business Director with filing, month-end reporting process, and annual audit preparation, among other administrative duties
• Supports with the artist residency program, including folder compilation, artist communication, scheduling, and record keeping
• Assists with travel coordination for artists, board members, and staff
• Supports with external relations projects, including bulk mailings, calendar listings, and other administrative tasks, as assigned
• Helps maintain outreach and/or invitation lists
• Maintains inventory of office supplies across offices
• Assists with selected special events, such as Founder’s Day, the Ucross Arts Festival, the Ucross Community Christmas Celebration, board dinners, and other events, as needed
• Represents Ucross to the public with a positive attitude and demonstrate strong personal commitment to the organization’s mission and activities
• Works well with fellow staff members, artists, board members, guests and others in a congenial and respectful way
• Other duties as assigned
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
• Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills
• Two to five years in administrative support
• Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate to a range of stakeholders
• A commitment to accuracy and an attention to detail
• Strong project management skills
• Relevant computer skills, including Office 365
• Ability to handle multiple high-priority tasks simultaneously
SCHEDULE & COMPENSATION
• Year-round, part-time, three days a week
• $21.14/hour
