DESCRIPTION
The Buyer is responsible for value stream of assigned Weatherby product lines, such as Carbon Fiber stocks, accessories, timely issuance of purchase orders, follow-up with suppliers to avoid late deliveries, negotiations of pricing on current parts, reviewing and introducing new suppliers for existing parts, and assist in the resolution of shipping, quality, and other issues which may impact delivery of goods to manufacturing. Assist in preparing documentation and filing necessary documentation for imports for Weatherby. Assist in setting up freight for imports to arrive at Weatherby. Other duties include procuring material in support of Engineering, maintenance and improvement of Two-bin, Kanban, and VMI stock, and supporting return of defective material for proper credit & corrective action. Assisting Supply Chain Manager in resolution of quality issues and releases of products.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Send Purchase Orders to Suppliers, follow-up with each to confirm receipt and dates of delivery for Buyer II value stream.
• Negotiate price changes and lead times with suppliers.
• Ensuring suppliers follow agreements placed by Weatherby
• Ability to work independently and problem solve. Find quick solutions and keep key personnel updated on status.
• Ability to create timelines for quality issues, changes in prints.
• Ability to read drawings from Engineering and suppliers.
• Ability to understand BOM’s and source parts from any changes from Engineering.
• Develop and monitor purchasing plan for assigned Vendors / Parts.
• Contact Vendors periodically to stay abreast of changes to their production schedules and resolve issues impacting delivery or cost. Expedite material when appropriate.
• Work with Engineering and Quality to ensure vendors ship quality products. Obtain appropriate supplier quality records such as material certification, CPK, and etc.
• Communicate Vendor delay(s) to appropriate Weatherby personnel so they can assess business impact.
• Ensure timely return of defective material, stay abreast of material needing return and having Vendors issue credits in a timely manner and informing Planner of replacement parts and what the impact would be on production.
• Engage vendors on their payment terms, material selling price, lead times, and quality standards for assigned parts.
• Work with Production and Planner to develop Kan-ban, Two Bin, Minimum stock levels, and material locations, updating Cars and ERP System depending on vendors lead time and MOQ purchases.
• Assist on material flow issues (i.e. ECN Changes, shortages, material transfers, inbound freight methods) as required.
• Maintains and ensures Procurement’s data integrity within ERP system.
• Update reorder points, costing, and lead times in ERP system.
• Manage projects assigned to support various business segments.
• Assist Planner in product life cycle.
• Timely close Purchase orders that were received short/long, cancelled, or are no longer valid.
• Communicate closely with Receiving & Accounts Payable on receipt problems, or system error(s).
• Ability to visit Vendors when necessary and represent Weatherby.
• Occasional Travel may be required

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience
• Associate’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Accounting, or similarly related discipline and/or 6+ years in experience. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of completion of a degree program.
• Experience in a fast paced, manufacturing environment
• Experience in making timelines for fast paced projects and following up on timelines with correct personal.
• Experience with NetSuite, Sage ERP, MS Dynamics, Epicor, Oracle, SAP or similar ERP system is a plus
• Excellent Communications skills, both written and verbal, to outside Vendors, peers, and Senior Management. • Excellent skills in interpersonal relationships and teamwork.
• Strong Excel skills with ability to manipulate and transform data • Ability to rapidly learn ERP functionality
• Ability to synthesize information from multiple data sources and create a conclusive plan
• Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to speak and communicate effectively with both senior management and production.
• Work independently and possess a high level of self-motivation and initiative.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is not exposed to weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. This position generally operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment including computers, phones, photocopiers and filing cabinets. While performing the duties of this job, this position may be exposed to the manufacturing environment and may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in this work environment can be loud.
