POSITION OVERVIEW  
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce’s operations, strategic planning, and community engagement. This role provides leadership in promoting the interests of the local business community, supporting meaningful policy changes, developing progressive programs and services, and fueling economic growth for Sheridan County.
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Organizational Leadership & Board Governance:
In collaboration with the Board of Directors, develop and implement the organization’s long-term strategic plan to carry out the Chamber’s mission and ensure financial sustainability.
Foster innovation and oversee the execution of the Chamber’s operational goals, programs, and activities in alignment with member needs, and community growth objectives.
Provide strategic leadership to enhance the Chamber’s role in supporting its broad membership base and fueling the local economy through developing, educating, connecting and advocating. 
 
Member and Stakeholder Relations:  
Serve as the Chamber’s visible and designated spokesperson and establish strong working relationships with business partners, elected officials, and the media.
Oversee membership growth by developing and implementing an annual membership plan with measurable goals, including effective recruitment and retention strategies.
Establish effective lines of communication between the membership and the Chamber office, soliciting feedback from members and responding to their needs.
 
Financial Management:  
Manage existing revenue sources and identify new funding opportunities to support long-term sustainability of the Chamber.
Design and implement measurement tools for Chamber initiatives; oversee the collection of necessary data to ensure meaningful measurements and annual recommendations to the Board.
Oversee the Chamber’s annual budget, ensuring fiscal responsibility and financial health. 
 
Community And Economic Development:
Promote Sheridan County as a premier location for business, tourism, and investment.
Work closely with local economic development entities to support business and job creation, education, and workforce development efforts.
Engage with stakeholders to support infrastructure improvements and other projects that enhance the local business climate.
 
Advocacy and Government Relations:
Maintain effective relationships with officials, policymakers, community leaders, and other key stakeholders.
Represent the Chamber in legislative matters, public hearings, and business-related forums.
Liaise with the Wyoming (State) Chamber of Commerce and the United States Chamber of Commerce. Identify and utilize available resources as applicable. 
 
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, economics, public policy, or equivalent work experience.
Five-plus years of proven leadership experience in a senior executive role, preferably within a Chamber of Commerce, association, business, or community/economic development field.
Experience with nonprofit and Board management a plus.
Ability to travel locally and occasionally to state and national meetings and conferences.

High level of integrity and business ethics and proven ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and discretion with sensitive information.
Ability to use good judgment in decision-making and evaluations.
Excellent communication, listening, and public speaking skills.
Collaborative leader with a commitment to fostering a professional work environment.
Knowledge of HR best practices, including performance management and staff feedback/evaluations.
 
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Annual starting salary $85,000 to $105,000 commensurate with experience.  Benefits include health insurance, vision and dental. Fidelity Simple IRA with 3% match. Generous time off benefits. Cell phone allowance and mileage reimbursement.
