Job Description:
JOB PURPOSE
As an Engineering Aide, you will act as an integral member of the engineering team to create and develop innovative technologies and leverage their application into new products and product lines that support the needs of Kennon’s customers. The Engineering Aide at Kennon Products is expected to demonstrate and leverage a diverse range of skills in order to support the full range of development activities. These include working with a team of engineers and technicians to build tooling and prototypes utilizing both traditional and state of the art technologies (i.e. 3D print, CNC, etc.), performing a diverse range of test and evaluation protocols, testing and evaluation of materials and product, and reporting results to the larger team. Communication and collaboration skills will be extremely important as you shepherd innovations through the development cycle. As developments mature, you will support the establishment of needed production documentation (BOM, standard work, inspection criteria, etc.) in collaboration with colleagues from the Production Team to seamlessly transition products into series production.
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Collaborate with engineering colleagues to develop innovative, robust, and practical solutions that address our customers problems;
Design and build tooling/fixturing to support prototype production;
Perform qualitative and quantitative tests to evaluate performance of new designs;
Research, identify, and source materials for prototype and product production;
Produce preliminary product documentation (specifications, standard work, etc.);
Coordinate with manufacturing colleagues to transition new product designs into production
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Our ideal candidate will offer a combination of production related, practical experience in a manufacturing environment , and the ability to effectively collaborate as part of a team to build, test, evaluate, and refine new product designs:
3+ years experience in a product development and manufacturing environment;
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal;
Limited travel may be required;
Physical strength and agility required: bending, twisting, standing, squatting or sitting for long periods, lifting up to 30 pounds from the floor to a table, manipulating materials, and working with various equipment.
