After School Group Leader
POSITION SUMMARY
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Under the guidance and supervision of the Afterschool/Camp Director, the Afterschool Group Leader is responsible for providing direction for the program and classroom, and implementing program curriculum. Along with providing a quality experience to children and parents that focus on the Y values.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
All Afterschool Group Leaders are expected to fulfill the following functions:
1. Implement curriculum within the established guidelines
2. Supervise the children, classroom and all activities in a safe environment
3. Maintain positive relationships and effective communication with parents
4. Participate in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, staff training
5. Participate in activities while supervising
6. Understand ratios, know the number of youth in the program (group) at all times
7. Facilitate transportation safety
8. Maintain a clean, organized and safe environment throughout all program areas including closets and other storage units
9. Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities

In addition to the essential duties and responsibilities, the Group Leader will:
● Pursue/participate in ongoing training.
● Participate in the annual campaign by giving, campaigning or both.
● Attend staff meetings
● Fill out timesheet daily to ensure accuracy
● Make prior arrangements for a replacement if you are going to be absent.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
● Ability to perform all physical demands of the position including leading activities, walking, standing, running, bending, reaching and lifting.
● Maintain a professional appearance and attitude at all times
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Alarm/Emergency Procedures training within 90 days of hire and annually thereafter.
2. CPR, First Aid and Child Abuse Prevention training within 90 days of hire and biannually thereafter.
3. New Employee Orientation within 90 days of hire.
4. Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred

WAGE AND HOUR INFORMATION
$14.00 hourly, non exempt
